Language represents a compromise in the struggle to achieve maximum communication through minimal effort. During the last few decades, the interest in describing and modeling intonation has steadily grown, both from a theoretical and an experimental perspective. Within the project The Contrastive Analysis of Romanian and Spanish Intonation. A Sociolinguistic Approach (SoRoEs) we propose a debate on the intonation phenomena from the perspectives opened by interdisciplinary methodologies, in a comparative manner for the both Romance languages Romanian and Spanish. Hence, the conference theme invites approaches from various perspectives: linguistic, phonology, sociolinguistic, pragmatic, psycholinguistic.
